The Montana Museum of Art & Culture at The University of Montana announces three opportunities for artists to submit their work to be considered for public art projects on the UM campus.
Calls for public art are currently being conducted for Don Anderson Hall, the newly constructed home of UM’s School of Journalism, and for the recently completed addition to the Skaggs Building, which houses a state-of-the-art biomedical research facility and science learning complex for the University’s College of Health Professions and Biomedical Sciences.
Professional artists from throughout the United States are invited to submit proposals or completed two-dimensional and three-dimensional work for Don Anderson Hall. Selected artwork will be placed in three locations in the building -- the Talbot Gallery and the second- and fourth-floor lobbies.
The Art Siting Committee for Don Anderson Hall also seeks proposed or completed two-dimensional work from Native American artists born or living in Montana to be placed in the building’s third-floor lobby across from the Native American Journalism Center.
The postmark deadline for the Don Anderson Hall calls for art is Friday, May 18, 2007.
The Skaggs Building addition art call has a postmark deadline of Friday, June 15, 2007. Artwork is sought for four locations within the building, including the first-floor entryway. Professional U.S. artists are invited to submit two-dimensional completed work for consideration.
Detailed information about these calls for art is available online at http://www.umt.edu/montanamuseum or by calling Manuela Well-Off-Man, MMAC curator of art, at 406-243-2019.
