Generally, I paint by layering many thin washes of transparent colors until my work begins to feel atmospheric. Even a blue sky will contain many many washes to lend the impression of looking through dusty or humid air. I also like to use "dropping". To drop watercolors is to wet an area of paper with clean water and drop colors into the water and let the water blend the colors. Although I hold degrees in Philosophy, Humanities and Chinese, my loves are my children and modern Chinese art. I am self- studying Catherine Anderson and Au Ho Nien via internet. I hope that once I am proficient in both styles, I will be able to convey exactly what I feel about my favorite subjects-- mountains, trees, fog and earth. (Stay tuned!)
