Bolen has been a professional artist since 1964. She began her career as a TV art director and commercial artist in major markets. She returned to Montana in 1980 to focus on her sculpture full-time.
Her main focus is on the Plains Indians and she has created a bronze collection called "Children of the Earth". This series is highly regarded by historians and collectors for her research and authenticity of subject. When finished, this series will be composed of 32 smaller full-body pieces and 32 almost life-size busts of each tribe. All are availbale from tabletop to monument sizes.
She is a founder and president of the Montana Professional Artists Association. Her workshops include: Anatomy for the artist (drawing & clay); figurative study in clay for bronze casting; portraiture in clay.
