Laura Blaker 323 Brooks Street Missoula, MT 59801 Phone: (406)544-0388 Contact: Send Email Web Site Address: anexcellentartventure.blogspot.com Born in Chicago in 1959, I graduated from the Colorado Instiute of Art in Denver in 1979 and started my career as a graphic designer in Phoenix Arizona, Denver, Colorado and Missoula Montana and later went into scenic painting for theatre. I continued on painting murals and for the past 10 years have been painting them for HuHot Mongolian Grills across the U.S. In the summer of 2008 I went to a summer workshop at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy to learn the atelier method of drawing in charcoal. My art is an expression that comes from my years as a scenic artist, a muralist and most recently my time in Florence, Italy. The technique I have developed came from painting sets, specifically starting with a black ground. I have recently used that technique in my oil paintings which gibes the depth and emotion I was looking for as well as a somewhat contemporary feel.
