I am a longtime artist who began doing acrylic paintings in my early 20s. After graduation from the University of Kansas with a Master of Science degree in Education and spending a 35 year career in special education, I retired in 2003, and began concentrating on my artwork once more. For the past 10 years, I have focused on learning watercolor
from a variety of sources including instructors, books and association with other artists who belong to Montana Watercolor Society, and Desert Artists of Yuma. This May (2009), I was privileged to join watercolor artists from Utah Watercolor Society in an excellent 5 day workshop with transparent watercolor artist, Sterling Edwards, who trained extensively with watercolor master, Zoltan Szabo.
My husband and I spend winters in the Yuma, Arizona, area where I teach watercolor classes in two RV parks and at the Yuma Art Center. What I discovered during the time I was taking lessons from watercolor instructors is that while they may be very good artists themselves, it does not necessarily follow that they will be good teachers. Because of my education background and my years of work with children and adults who were special students and sometimes very difficult to teach, I developed a curriculum to teach watercolor using good basic teaching techniques so that students can learn the media in a straightforward, easy way that is both fun and entertaining. My students, some of whom have been watercolor painters for many years, have expressed to me and others that my method of teaching solves problems that they have had with the media and didn't know how to fix.

I hold memberships in three organizations: Montana Watercolor Society, Desert Artists of Yuma and The Village Art Gallery of Yuma where my paintings are on display throughout the year.

Bright, vibrant colors in both Arizona and Montana are my inspiration and the signature quality in my work.

My paintings have been accepted into the following juried shows:

2007 - Montana Watercolor Society Watermedia Show
2008 - Mountain Shadows Art Association Winter Show
2008 - Montana Watercolor Society Watermedia Show
2008 - Yuma Art Center Fall Show
