Joe grew up in Butte, Montana to a family that was constantly involved in the outdoors. At a young age, Joe recognized his love for art. He started out with a point and shoot camera, and took pictures of landscapes at the family cabin in Jerry Creek, Montana. After many years of keeping his photos to himself and family, Joe started to sell them to the public at local Farmer’s Markets. In 2007, Joe self-published a photography book about Butte.
After graduating from Butte High School in 2009, Joe moved to Bozeman to attend Montana State University. He is studying Elementary Education K-8 and plans on teaching math.
While adjusting to the new lifestyle, Joe spent his free time creating art. In April of 2010, Joe started to carve linoleum and created traditional prints under Frank Finley and DG House. That summer, Joe started to paint wildlife.
Joe paints wildlife of the Rocky Mountain West. His medium is Copper Acrylic. Joe’s paintings can be identified by copper wildlife, a vein of copper foil, and a silver signature. Copper has been a huge part of Joe’s inspirations. After all, he was born in America’s copper capital.
