I love learning, which is why I have no use for school, at least not what we in this country call schooling. As it's practiced here, it's more of an anti-learning system. My wife Maggi and I live a simple, yet amazingly fulfilling life out in the hills of Montana. We currently live and work in a one-room "cabin", actually the studio we built with our own four hands. This will eventually become my full-time studio, once we finish building our house. For our livelihood, we make art, primarily jewelry, but also the occasional sculpture or painting. Thus, we are able to combine work and pleasure, a necessity that seems to be overlooked by most people, especially americans. To stay in shape, we work on our various buildings, thereby avoiding the need to waste ridiculous amounts of time and money going to a gym. We also hike around our property and enjoy the many benefits of nature. Since we do not yet have running water, when the weather is inclement, and thus the road impassable, we carry water home on our backs, five gallons at a time. Same with the groceries. This is a three-mile round trip, up and down a steep, but beautiful canyon. We live twelve miles from the nearest town, which is tiny; Population 96. For groceries and water we must drive thirty-five miles to the next-closest town. Our nearest neighbor is about two miles away, and not a single other building or light is visible from where we live. We also share our home with three of the world's most amazing cats.
