    Biographical Sketch

    Jack Haker
Contemporary Bronze Artist/Foundry Artisan "Specializing in one of a kind original bronzes"

A native Montana, who grew-up in Stanford, Montana. Degree in art education plus 5 year (54 graduate credits) from Eastern Montana College, Billings, Montana. Taught in the Montana's public school system for 25 years. In his 25 years as an art teacher, many of his art students received art scholarships and went on to careers in art, either as art instructors or professional artists.

    Art Statement: Sculpture

"It is extremely fulfilling as a sculptor to have complete control over every aspect of the "Lost Wax Process". "This process starts with a wax sculpture and ends with the application of a patina to create an original bronze sculpture".

Th bronze foundry fascination began 34 years ago; when as a graduate art student, I constructed a bronze furnace and casting system for graduate credit. Part of the graduate program consisted of producing a "life size" bronze sculture using the bronze foundry that I constructed from scatch. Three months later, after 13 bronze castings a "life-size bronze sculture was created named "Diana". This life-size bronze was displayed in the Yellowstone Art Museum in Billings, Montana soon after it's creation.

After spending 25 years as an art instructor. I decided to pursue my fascination with bronze sculpture and bronze foundry casting. I spent many months researching and hand building from scatch the equipment needed for a bronze foundry. This foundry specializes in the "Ancient Lost Was Process" that creates original one of a kind contemporary abstract bronze sculptures. The process in creating one "original" bronze sculpture can take many months of long dedicated work. The term "original" means that the sculpture is the only one in the world and will never be reproduced under any circumstances.

The foundry process is an art in itself; this process takes as much time or more that the creation of the wax sculpture itself. When using the "Ancient Direct Waste Mold Process", one runs the risk of totally losing the original sculpture if all the steps are not carefully completed.

    Contemporary Abstract Painter

    Artist's Statement Abstract Painting

"I believe in creating paintings that stimulate the viewer with extreme coloration and psychological abstract shapes and designs." "A successful painting should be balanced and exhibit spatical excitment."

As a native Montana, who believes in creating psychological landscapes from the mind and not from reproducing natural life. The highest form of creativity for an artist is to abstract natural forms in one's mind. The mind has infinite possibilities for the creation of art forms. For me the greatest achievement is to take and hold the viewer to one of my paintings. Paintings need to excite and produce reflective thought from the viewer.

These paintings exhibit the wide emotional aspects of human thought to nature. The viewer becomes an emotional participant by studying the paintings, thus really appreciating its psychological impact. This develops into an understanding of what the artist is trying to convey in the colors and composition.

Abstraction in art is the final frontier for the viewer to appreciate and understand new concepts and exhibit a wonderful joy in the creative process.
