Art Statement: "The strength of an artist's work lies in the power of the human soul". Jack Haker
Artist's Statement: Sculpture
"It is extremely fulfilling as a sculptor to have complete control over every aspect of the "Lost Wax Process". This process starts with a wax sculpture and ends with the application of a patina to create an original bronze sculpture.
The bronze foundry fascination began 35 years ago; when as a graduate art student, I constructed a bronze furnace and casting system for graduate credit. Part of the graduate program consisted of producing a "life size" bronze sculpture using the bronze foundry that I constructed from scratch. Then three months later, after 13 individual bronze castings a "life size bronze sculpture emerged and was named "Diana". Soon after it's creation, this life size bronze was displayed in the Yellowstone Art Museum in Billings, Montana.
After spending 25 years as an art instructor and retiring. I decided to pursue my fascination with bronze sculpture and casting. I spent many months researching and hand building from scratch the equipment needed for a bronze foundry. This foundry specialized in the "Ancient Lost Wax Process". This complicated process will produce an original one of a kind bronze sculpture. It may take many long dedicated months to produce one original bronze sculpture. The term "original" means that the sculpture is not massed produced in limited number editions, but is the only one in the world and will never be reproduced as a limited edition under any circumstances.
The foundry process is an art form in itself and can take more time than creating the wax sculpture itself. When using this ancient bronze casting process you run the risk of losing the original wax sculpture if all the necessary steps are not done correctly.
Contemporary Abstract Painter
Artist's Statement: Abstract Painting
I believe in creating paintings that stimulate the viewer with extreme bright color and psychological induced abstract shapes and design. A successful painting should be balanced and exhibit spatial excitement. This creation of emotional and psychological landscapes comes from the inner depths of the artist's mind. This is the highest form of creativity an artist can convey, those being the abstracted images from the artist's mind. For me, the greatest achievement possible is to entrance the viewer's attention to one of my paintings. Painting need to excite and produce reflective thoughts from the viewer.
These abstract paintings represent the many complicated and emotional aspects of human thought.
The viewer becomes an emotional and psychological participant by studying the painting's color and design, thus appreciating the strong impact each of these paintings individually represent. The process of abstraction in art is the final frontier for the artist to master. There is no end and no beginning in abstract art, only the infinity of the human mind.
