I was born in 1976 and raised in a small family in Missoula, MT. I graduated from Montana State University with an Art degree in 2004, and have since married and now have two children of my own.
Because I have resided in Montana my whole life, I have been blessed with the chance to view (and sometimes photograph)a wide array of colorful subjects that are unique to this area of the country. Good examples would be: fleeting summer sunsets at the lake, a winter sunrise briefly touching Lolo Peak, or the towering cliffsides that overlook Bass Creek trail. I am constantly reminded when I attempt to capture a scene, that it usually only exists as a short moment in time before the light changes or melts away altogether.
Although I enjoy painting people, landscapes or animals from around Montana, I often find inspiration in pictures from all over the U.S. and other parts of the world. Of particular interest to me are keystone predators that are endangered or indicator species.
Although I began producing pencil drawings as a child and continued through college, oil painting has become my primary focus. I have also begun creating artwork using scratchboard.
