During the years that I have been off and on painting, I've experimented with media from Oils to fired porcelain. They are all interesting to me but lately my paintings are mostly oils and Still Life with a few landscapes when I can get outdoors and paint from the actual scene. I'm not too keen about painting from photos. Some of my recent work also includes figures or portraits.
I have a BA from Carroll College with a summer session at the Univ. of London studying the old masters up close in England's fine museums. I'm a member of the Helena Art Center and often have a painting on display in their shows around town. At present, I do not have gallery representation.
Each piece that I work on challenges me to make it as true as I am able. I strive for accurate drawing and perspective in the beginning, values that are believable and an end product that looks real though not photographic. And always a final result that I would be proud to display in my own home.
Now that I am retired I'm painting every day and making up for those spells in the past when my paints were put aside. I love to paint and hope it shows in my work.
